The Instituto Universitario Internacional is an academic center specializing in the instruction of the Spanish language and culture for non-Spanish students. Classes are currently held at the Escuela Universitaria Cardenal Cisneros (EUCC), itself part of the campus of the prestigious Universidad de Alcalá de Henares. The EUCC is located in Alcalá de Henares (30 km northeast of Madrid), a city of great cultural importance and influence, birthplace of Miguel de Cervantes, and a necessary reference point on the Camino de Lengua Castellana. The historic center, or “Old Town” district of Alcalá, was recognized by UNESCO in 1998 as a World Heritage Site.
The Instituto Universitario Internacional (IUIN) enjoys the exceptional technological facilities necessary to make the most of today´s university experience. No less important are the IUIN instructors and staff, many of whom have doctorate degrees in their respective fields, and all of whom are both trained in and practiced at the art of higher education, specifically in the instruction of American college students in Spain. Currently, the IUIN is home to the semester, year, and summer study abroad programs of The University of Alabama and Bowling Green State University.
The courses in Spanish Language and Culture are designed to offer academic formation in said topics in the very heart of Spain, where the Spanish language and culture live and thrive not only in textbooks, but also in everyday life. Our programs are aimed at universities bringing groups of students to our campus as well as individual collegiate students who wish to create their own academic experiences abroad.
